Did you know that Bible study isn’t something every Christian does on a regular basis? Some don’t even read their Bibles at all. But Bible study is actually critical to a healthy and abundant Christian life.
Bible study is so important because the Bible isn’t just a book, it’s a person. John 1:1 says, “the Word was with God and the Word was God” and in John 1:14 it says “the Word became flesh.” Therefore, Jesus is the Word. So, when you read the Bible you are actually spending time with Jesus. That’s a game changer!
The Bible also says in Hebrew 4:12 that the Word of God is “living and active.” That mean there is life in the Word. It also means that it can move and work in your life. That’s why having a Bible study routine is so important.
Still not convinced? Let’s look at what the Bible says about the Word of God:
Psalm 119:11 – I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
Joshua 1:8 – Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Ephesians 6:17-18 – Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
