1 Corinthians 15:12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead 13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
Hollywood tries to preserve the body and its beauty by facelifts, tummy tucks, sewed in hair, filled in lips, taking out veins, putting teeth in and reconstructing everything but, in the end the results is all the same from the rich and famous to white house to the poor house. This body is going to die and deteriorate.
A woman bought a new line of expensive cosmetics guaranteed to make her look years younger. She sat in front of the mirror for hours applying the “miracle” products. Finally when she was done she turned to her husband and said, “Honey, honestly now, what age would you say I am?” He nodded his head and carefully said, “Well, judging from your skin, 20. Your hair, 18. Your figure, 25.” Wife said: “Oh, you’re so sweet!” He said; “Well, hang on, I’m not done adding it up yet!”
For the ones who belong to Jesus God promised us a new body and called it glorified. A body that will always keep its beauty, strength and last forever. Jesus was the first example and demonstration of what lies ahead for those who put their trust in Him. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour we inherit more than an abundant life in the flesh. We inherit an eternal life with God! Never to be separated from Him! Our Protector, our Creator, our Saviour.
Everything depends on Jesus resurrection. Jesus death on the cross is important to pay for our sins, of course it is. His burial is important to show the death of this body of flesh and sin but Paul said in verse 13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
If it wasn’t for the resurrection we would have no reason to praise Jesus. Paul said our faith would be in vain and our preaching would be in vain. But, there was a resurrection of our Lord and there is going to be a resurrection of our body just as it was with Jesus. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
We are sadden and broken hearted when a love one dies because we will miss them when they are gone but we can also rejoice because we will see them again one day if they also trusted Christ as their Saviour.
Think about this, if we had Apostle Peter, Apostle John and other Apostles with us and ask each one to stand and give a personal account of what happen and how they felt during those 3 days of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord I believe their stories would be different than what we might think. I believe each one would give account of how it felt to lose a close friend and someone they loved. They watched as they nailed Him to a Roman cross. They watched as people spat upon Him, laughed at Him and hung a sign around His neck saying The King Of The Jews. They were watching as He drew His last breath and then a soldier stuck a sword in His side and they watched as blood and water ran out of His lifeless body. They witnessed His pain and heard Him as He cried out, “I thirst!” and “My God, my God, why have thou forsaken me?”
But, the 3rd day they find out He was alive again and appeared to them in His glorified body. Don’t you think that our loved ones who have gone ahead of us are waiting with anticipation to see us again when we have a great reunion in Heaven?
All we heard was true! All we heard about the resurrection becomes a reality! We will have joy in our hearts! Our journey will be over! Our trials will be finished because we will be home! All because our Saviour prepared the way for us!
