Young Players Prayed during Medical Emergency at Ball Field

1 Mins read

As a Pastor living in Oklahoma, Blake Bastin often preaches about faith. But sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words. And that’s certainly the case for an incredible image he shared on social media!

The image making its rounds on social media showed a group of Little League players praying. And the reason why is so heartwarming.

Family members of the players dotted the stands to watch these kids and their game. But at some point, one little boy’s grandfather needed emergency care. He’d come to watch his grandson but ended up having a major health scare.

The game came to a screeching halt and the adults rushed around trying to help the man who was ill. But during all the panic, something amazing happened. The players started praying.

The players on this team are all around 10 years or younger. And they knew the medical problem was beyond their control. So, rather than bustle around frantically, the kids hit their knees.

These players praying, as young as they are, showed such spiritual maturity. They couldn’t fix the problem. But they knew who, ultimately, could — Jesus!

“This is the faith we all should have,” Blake wrote when sharing the story online. “Like a child who comes to a loving father. We don’t have all the answers, we aren’t sure what to do, we may be afraid, and we sense in these moments that we are powerless……so we turn to Him. And our loving father listens and delights in our prayer.”

We all face moments like these where we are powerless. And in those moments, may we remember the childlike faith of these young players praying. May we recognize that it is not our job to fix the problem, but rather to surrender it to the Almighty.

“And they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.” Psalm 9:10
