Christian recording artist Anne Wilson has been nominated for six Dove Awards — the latest twist in a whirlwind career sparked by her hit single, “My Jesus.” Wilson, 20, shared the news with her parents over the phone this week.

“I can’t believe what God has done,” said the singer’s mother Lynn as she began to cry.

For her part, Wilson wrote on Instagram she is “so honored” by the nominations, adding, “Thank you to everyone who supports my music and has been on this journey with me. This is incredible!”

The Kentucky native is nominated for Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year, and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year.

This spring, at the K-LOVE Fan Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, Wilson won Female Artist of the Year and Breakout Single of the Year for her debut song “My Jesus,” which rocketed to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart. Her full-length album by the same title also debuted at No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart.

She told CBN’s Faithwire at the time she was “so honored and so grateful” for the K-LOVE awards, adding, “I think it’s so surreal to be in this place and realize that fans voted for me. That’s such an honor and just makes me so humble, so grateful.”

Wilson recently appeared on CBN’s “Faith vs. Culture,” where she spoke candidly about the difficult journey she and her family have endured since her 23-year-old brother’s sudden death from a car accident in 2017.

“Losing Jacob changed everything for me,” she said. “I gained a new perspective on life that I had never had. I realized how short these years on earth are, that heaven is the final destination, heaven is where I want to work towards. I want to tell people about Jesus. I want to work as hard as I can to introduce Jesus to as many people as I can.”

In many ways, God used Jacob’s tragic death to reveal to Wilson the calling He had on her life.

“I sang at my brother’s funeral for the first time in front of anyone and that was really the moment that I realized God was calling me to music, God was calling me to spread His name, to spread His love around the world,” she explained. “I didn’t know what capacity that would be [in] or what that would look like, but it’s so amazing to look back and see how God used the tragedy of losing my brother to start something so incredible and change people’s lives through my songs and my ministry.”
