A Florida Pilot passed out during a flight when a Christian passenger who was no pilot prayed to God and took over the ride for the plane’s safe landing. What happened next was a miracle, and the passenger said it was the “hand of God.”
On May 10, 64-year-old Pilot Kenneth Allen flew a single-engine airplane toward Florida with many passengers. The flight went well when the veteran pilot suddenly passed out. Apparently, his health had an attack that tore his aorta, which according to the report, “kills nearly half of all patients before they make it to the hospital.” And now, everyone inside the plane was in danger.
One of the passengers, Darren Harrison, immediately responded to the alarming situation. He knew they could die if nothing was done as the plane “was in a nosedive at that point.” Although he had no flight experience, he rushed to climb the cockpit using only his instinct in driving the plane.
According to the 39-year-old, the plane was already “going way too fast” downward. And if no one dared to take over the flight, “it would probably rip the wings off of the airplane.” For him, who had no experience, it was “the scariest” moment.
Soon, Darren managed to get in touch with the air traffic controller, Robert Morgan. He then directed Darren on what to do and how to land the plane safely. Despite the odds, the non-pilot passenger was determined that he would be able to land it safely.
“When I was flying and saw the state of Florida, at that second I knew I’m going to land there,” he said. “I don’t know what the outcome’s going to be. I don’t know how it’s going to happen. But I knew I’m going to have to land this airplane because there’s no other option.”
With Robert’s help, Darren successfully and safely landed the airplane on the runway. And as soon as the aircraft stopped, he was stunned by what had happened. He couldn’t believe it and described the incident as “the biggest prayer I’ve ever said in my life.” Moreover, he attested that the “hand of God” guided him throughout the emergency flight.
Further, he stressed that he also prayed hard for the pilot who had a life-threatening health condition. But soon after, the pilot’s doctor, Nishant Patel, testified the miracle of Pilot Kenneth’s survival.
“I mean, the story is a miracle after a miracle, really,” he said in an interview with Associated Press. “You know, for him to be able to survive the event, an acute type-A dissection is really acute, it is hyperacute, it happens suddenly.”
Reports say the pilot is expected to be discharged from the hospital next week.
