A newly signed Christian artist recently topped multiple music charts with her debut single, which she wrote during a personal health crisis. According to the Gospel Music Association, singer/songwriter Katy Nichole hit No. 1 for the first time last month with her debut single “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” on Billboard’s Christian Airplay and AC Indicator charts.

“Making history, the song reaches the Christian Airplay penthouse in its 12th week, completing the quickest jaunt to No. 1 for a female artist’s first entry in the chart’s 19-year history,” Billboard noted.

Nichole also shared on social media that YouTube named her “YouTube Trending Artist on the Rise” for her song’s music video.

“This is absolutely crazy and I’m extremely grateful!!” Nichole wrote on Instagram.

Nichole signed a record deal with Christian label Centricity Music after the song went viral with over 80 million views on TikTok. Before being signed, the worship single was played on K-Love, marking the first time in its 40-year history that the Christian radio station aired a song that initially went viral on social media.

In an Instagram post last month, Nichole opened up about the song’s origin, explaining that it was derived from her years-long struggle with scoliosis.

“I reached a point where I was ready to give up, but God met me in my lowest place,” the singer explained. “I felt Him say He wasn’t done yet.”

Nichole underwent two surgeries for scoliosis, one in 2015 and another one in 2018. During the 2018 surgery, she had all the fusion from her fusion removed.

“When I came out of the surgery, I saw the light again for the first time. I felt the weight of depression being lifted off of me,” she recalled. “My spine was actually straighter with the hardware removed. Not only did I get my life back, but God also gave me my purpose.

This summer, Nichole is scheduled for a number of solo events and concerts where she will perform with other Christian artists, including TobyMac, Danny Gokey, Jordan Feliz, Big Daddy Weave, and others
