n October 2019, Marty Cowling went for a solo weekend trip to Oklahoma while Sherry, his wife, was away on a cruise ship. But unfortunately, Marty met a horrible motorcycle accident. He flew over 120 feet from his wrecked motorcycle.
Two days later, Sherry found out about what happened to her husband after arriving at the port. When she heard the news, the wife immediately prayed before taking action. And during their 8-hour trip to the hospital in Arkansas, they kept praying for Marty’s survival.
Sherry couldn’t believe what she witnessed at the hospital, seeing her husband barely clinging onto his life in the ICU. He had a fractured skull and neck. On top of that, he had multiple brain bleeds.
Soon enough, Sherry’s church family contended with her in praying for her husband’s healing. The whole church covered them in prayer and even supported them physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Three weeks later, Marty’s blood pressure crashed, and his organs began shutting down. Marty’s condition got way out of control, and he battled renal failure, sepsis, and pneumonia. Further, other life-threatening issues also surfaced.
Amid the uncertainty, a nurse came to Sherry and reminded her never to stop praying. Prayers then rose in faith among Sherry’s friends, family, and church. Soon after, they witnessed Marty’s condition going stable.
“In prayer and faith, that’s all I knew to do. Because everything else is out of my control,” the wife said.
Amazingly, Marty continued to recover incredibly. Despite what his brain went through, he wasn’t paralyzed and had no other issues.
“This proved that nothing is impossible with God,” Sherry remarked.
Today, Marty says, “It wasn’t my desire to be the poster child for miracles. But seeing how prayer actually impacted my condition and restored me, it really encourages me to reach out to others in their time of need. Knowing God can intercede for them.”
