3 Crucial Things You Need To Pray For In A Future Spouse

Many ladies nowadays choose to settle for less because they think a Christian boy or a church boy is enough. And when they started dating, only then the real deal of a guy’s true nature unravels. That’s why it’s crucial that you pray for your future spouse and also prepare yourself to become the right one for the man in your prayers. Here are three things you need to consider in praying for a future spouse:

1. Pray that your future spouse is a man after God’s own heart.
Pray for a man after God’s own heart. We do not just want a Christian guy or a churchgoer who is still immature. We want someone who understands the heart of God so well. Ladies, you deserve a man who loves the Lord so much, because a guy who is after the heart of God will love you and treat you well as Christ loved His church.

2. Pray that your future spouse has a Christlike character.
Praying for a man with a Christlike character doesn’t mean he will be perfect, though. It means that this man is greatly dependent on God and anchors his identity and worth in Jesus alone. Pray that he is not a people pleaser but someone who truly honors God and lives out his identity as a son of God. It means he would make the standard of God his core values in life: the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

3. Pray that he has a teachable heart and that he follow God’s vision and purpose for his life.
A teachable man is a lifelong learner who honors God, others, and himself. As a follower of Christ, this is the most important characteristic one should have. In the same way that you allow God to teach you every day, pray for a man who has the same heart as well. With a teachable spirit, one can have a childlike faith who consults God every time. And above all, having a teachable heart would lead that person to follow God’s vision and purpose for his life no matter what comes his way.

So, ladies, don’t settle for a church-boy and wait for a man after God’s own heart. Because as a woman after God’s own heart yourself, you deserve that kind of man who loves the Lord so much in the same way you do.
