‘Moms and Dads Across the Country Have the Education Establishment on its Heels

Recently, during their annual conference at the Greensboro Sheraton Hotel at Four Seasons, the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) voted to drop their membership in the National School Board Association (NSBA). As of Wednesday, “more than half of state school board associations have distanced themselves from the national association.

The move by the NCSBA to separate itself from the NSBA follows a controversial letter sent by the national group to the Biden administration. The letter characterized parents who vigorously opposed the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT), mask mandates, and other left-wing decisions as “domestic terrorists.”

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland responded by directing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to monitor and scrutinize parents protesting at local school board meetings.

North Carolina congressman Dan Bishop and other elected officials condemned Garland’s directive as outrageous. Bishop told the North State Journal that he was “stupefied” by Garland’s directive. “It smacks of using the threat of the FBI to intimidate a pure grassroots political movement across the country,” he said. “The moms and dads across the country have the contemptuous, self-adulating education establishment on its heels.”.

A recent survey found that 63% of Americans believe that parents should have the final say in what their children learn while only 37% thought that public schools should have the final say.

“What we saw in Virginia, the outcome of the election there, the turning of that state to red, was the result of parents waking up to serious challenges in the public schools. It’s not just CRT and mask mandates that parents are concerned about and protest; it’s also the sexualization of their children, gender ideologies in education, boys in girls’ locker rooms and restrooms, and the unfair practice of biological boys playing in girls’ sports,” said Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League.

“But this is what you get – this is what fills the vacuum left by the loss of Christian principles in public education. You get the rise of an elite who believe they know better than parents and an authoritarian state willing to enforce their objectives,” Creech added.

Creech also noted recent events in the public schools that give parents considerable pause about public education today. A graphic novel that featured illustrations of LGBTQ oral sex was discovered in public school libraries within the Keller Independent School District in Texas. Enraged parents said the book was “visual porn” and a “felony offense.”

At a Kentucky school, Hazard High School, scantily clad teenage boys gave lap dances to school staff, including the principal.

“I have taken the position for a long time that Christian parents should get their children out of the public schools and either send them to a private Christian school or homeschool them. I’ve heard many arguments from parents why they don’t feel they can do this. Some Christians argue we shouldn’t give up on public education by taking our children out. Some feel they can’t afford a private education for their child. Some feel that they’re not qualified to homeschool.

“Here it is in black and white: if you keep your child in a public school, you have to vigorously be engaged with their education, know their teachers, know what they are being taught, attend the school board meetings, attend parent’s meetings, etc. Otherwise, you may find your child has altogether embraced, or at least to some degree accepted, the moral madness of this era in American history. But the movement by parents to wrest back control of public education from the education establishment and rogue actions by our government are a welcome sight, indeed.” concluded Rev. Creech.
