Christian athlete and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently became the first half-billion-dollar player in sports history, after agreeing on a 10-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. He tweeted, “Man this is crazy! God is amazing! Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me get here!”

Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt confirmed the blockbuster deal they had with their MVP. He stated that Patrick is “one of the most prolific athletes in all of the sports. With his dynamic play and infectious personality, he is one of the most recognized and beloved figures to put on the Chiefs uniform.”

Mahomes has relied on God throughout his football career and isn’t afraid to share Christ with others. He has said faith is a big part of his life and it keeps him grounded. “My faith has always been a big part of what I do… I’ve grown up in church and faith really helps you know why you’re playing the game, and who you’re doing it for,” he told FSPN.

His family couldn’t be prouder of his faith in Christ! When Mahomes was playing at Texas Tech, his mother, Randi, was interviewed by IN Magazine. At the time, she talked about her son’s strong faith in God. “In middle school, he got real involved with his youth group and he got saved. There was a night at church, he had his hands raised to the Lord and he was singing. I just felt overcome with this most awesome moment, more than any football game, because I knew where his heart truly is.”

The 23-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the NFL’s most valuable player. The award comes after one of the most-statistically impressive year’s in NFL history, with Mahomes breaking several league and franchise records.

During his acceptance speech for the honor, Mahomes thanked fans, family and teammates, but started the list of thank you’s by saying, “This season was special and there were a lot of people that helped me get to this point. First, I just want to thank God because without Him none of this would even be here.”
