Hope for Tomorrow

1 Mins read

Are you afraid of an uncertain future right now? Are you discouraged, feeling as though you have failed? Jesus knows where you are at this very moment. He knows what you’re experiencing.

After Jesus had just fed 5,000 people with a handful of loaves and fish, He told His disciples to get into their boat and go to the other side. So they obeyed Him. Meanwhile, Jesus went up on a mountain to pray.

Then, as the disciples were making their way across the Sea of Galilee, a huge storm came. This was worse than most storms the disciples had seen before. It got worse and worse. There were overhead waves, and they began to despair of their lives.

The Bible tells that when the boat already was a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves, Jesus went out to them during the fourth watch of the night, walking on the water. When the disciples saw Him, however, they were terrified. They thought He was a ghost. So Jesus immediately said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27 nkjv).

There is a simple reason they didn’t have to be afraid: Jesus would help them weather the storm. Maybe you’re feeling discouraged right now. Maybe you’re thinking, “I don’t know what will happen to me.” Jesus is on board the life that has invited Him in. If you have asked Him to be your Savior and Lord, then He is there with you.

This means that God will complete the work He has begun in your life—even if you have failed, even if you have made a mistake. God has a future for each of us. So be courageous. He is with you, and there is a brighter tomorrow for you.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
—Matthew 14:27
